Everyone, stop what you’re doing….

Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, celebrated her 70th birthday last week and we need to talk about it!

In case you’re unfamiliar with the work of this literal icon (umm wyd!?), allow us to break it down for you. Wintour is the real-life Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada. She’s the queen of Condé Nast, one of the leading ladies of journalism, and the epitome of a GIRL BOSS!

Wintour started her career in the fashion industry at the age of fifteen. What were you doing when you were fifteen? Pretty sure we were still playing Club Penguin. From there, Wintour went on to become the editor of two British publications before moving up in the ranks to become the editor of British Vogue and now American Vogue. Take notes Newhouse baddies…

Anna Wintour has now been the Vogue editor-in-chief for 31 years and we can’t get enough of her. With her signature blunt bob cut and Chanel sunglasses, Wintour consistently shows that she is not afraid to push boundaries in the world of fashion publications. By giving a damn about representation and female empowerment, Wintour has become a fearless voice for women everywhere.

“There’s a new kind of woman out there. She’s interested in business and money. She doesn’t have time to shop anymore. She wants to know what and why and where and how,” Wintour said in an interview with The London Evening Standard.

Both in and out of her role at Vogue, Wintour is a champion for feminism and badass business ladies. Known to get involved in the political sphere, Wintour has been honored for her support of the Democratic party. Not to mention, she also received the Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II, herself…no big deal.

While Wintour receives her fair share of criticism for her sometimes problematic ways, she knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to show it! We can all take a little inspiration from Wintour, whether it be her strong beliefs, unstoppable passion, killer style, or posh haircut.

Happy birthday, Anna Wintour! May we all be as iconic as you in our 70s.
