How to Style Jerseys in the Off-Season

Football, basketball… same difference.

NCAA Womens Basketball: NCAA Tournament-First Round-Syracuse vs Nebraska

We’ll keep this short and sweet: real sports jerseys aren’t considered a wardrobe must-have among the style savvy. Yet ‘Cuse is most known for its sports teams, so we’re all bound to own one by the time we graduate. Nothing compares to the pride of Orange Nation (especially during Basketball season… right?), but if you’re anything like us at Jerk, you don’t really “do” “sports”. Games are more of a social event, meaning we go to the tailgates, take pics, then go home. So what happens to our apparel once the season ends? Here are some tips on how to style your ‘Cuse jerseys all year around, or at least how to make them look acceptable when you run out of clean clothes.

A look like this is perfect for the freezing ‘Cuse weather. Pair your jersey with a pair of jeans or leggings and layer up only just enough to let that orange peek through. It’s like you’re going to a tailgate, but skip the high socks and Otto tattoos.

They say hoes never get cold. If you’re feeling brave, wear your jersey as a dress and throw a jacket (or 4) on for a sporty winter look. You might confuse the bar bouncers, but hey, at least your Bud Light will match for the ‘gram.

You can cheer on ‘Cuse while being an adult, too. Opt for a jersey with a white base and class it up with a blazer, vest, or statement jacket and a pair of sleek bottoms like culottes, plaid, or pleated pants. Maybe the companies at the career fair will admire your spirit.

For when the weather gets warm, make good use of the jersey you bought in XL because it was cheap. Repurpose your jersey as a dress and cool it up with heels or keep it casual with a pair of sneakers. This look is perfect for when you’ve neglected to do laundry for the last three weeks.
