Concert Safety 101

What happened at the Travis Scott concert was a tragedy and a fucking nightmare. If you’re now concerned about safety at concerts and festivals, you’re not the only one. Here are a few tips on how to be as safe as possible at these events.

1. Be prepared pre-concert and during

Stay hydrated before and during the festival or concert, especially with the RIGHT kinds of liquids, kids. Make sure you have some food in your stomach so you have fuel. And be sensible when it comes to footwear. We know festivals are considered fashion shows, but maybe wear your 6-inch platform sparkly platforms another time.

2. Know your surroundings

When you get to the venue, make note of the exits and where security or help is. If something goes wrong you know exactly where to go. If you are with people, make sure they know as well in case you get split up.
3. If you get caught up in a crowd

Please, mosh pits are not worth it. Your 5’8 ass can’t handle it even if you think otherwise. If you do somehow get trapped, conserve your energy. Don’t scream, don’t try to move against the wave of the crowd. You need your energy and air. Put your hands up in front of you like a boxer to protect your lungs.

Lastly, if something doesn’t look or feel right, go with your gut and get out of there. If you see thousands of people breaking into the festival or if the setup doesn’t look safe, it might be a sign to get the hell out of there. It’s not worth risking your safety for a concert. Trust us, your favorite musician will play again, or you can bootleg videos of the live thing off the internet… shhh.
