Jerk’s Euphoria Inspired Playlist

As we all know, Euphoria has blown up across the nation but especially across Syracuse’s campus. YikYak is very reliable proof of this, especially the feed after the last episode of season 2. Many iconic moments came from not only that episode but this season of Euphoria as a whole. Arguably, some of the most iconic pieces of the season was the songs.

First on our imaginary playlist, we have “Dirty Work” by Steely Dan. This song is a nod to HBO’s infamous show, The Sopranos. In episode 1 Kathrine Narducci guest starred as the younger version of Fez’s grandma, yet she is more famously known as Charmaine Bucco in The Sopranos.

Next there is “Right Down the Line” by Gerry Rafferty. This upbeat song is an 80’s classic.

After that we have the emotional banger, “Drink Before the War” by Sinnead O’Connor, which is a classic. Sinnead is an Irish icon and her song fit perfectly with Cal’s gay bar scene and Cassie’s beautiful breakdown.

To mix it up, next we have “Trademark USA” by Baby Keem. This song does not fit in with the timeframe this season is set in but with all of Sam Levinson’s plot holes it makes sense.

Speaking of not fitting in the timeframe of the season, next on the playlist is “Haunted” by Laura Les. This techno pop song fit Lexi’s character perfectly and the scene of her riding her bike to Fez’ will forever be iconic.

Another iconic scene is Ethan’s homo-erotic musical scene which features the playlist’s next song, “Holding Out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler. Lexi killed that scene and that play.

Lexi was a huge character this season, especially with her budding romance with Fez. Their big moment came when they held hands to the beautiful song, “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King.

Another beautiful song to come from this season is “Watercolor Eyes” by Lana Del Rey. Although not used in any scenes, it was a nice credit song and highlights the success of Lana’s career lately.

Surprisingly, “Hit ‘Em Up by Tupac made an appearance in this season. The use of this song hints at Jules and Rue’s classic Shakespearean “Romeo and Juliet” romance.

An honorable mention of this season’s songs is the brutal experience that was “Elliot’s Song” by Dominic Fike. Although he is very talented, this was a grueling scene.

The best Elliot scene is of course in the church though, bringing us to our final song, “I’m Tired” by Labrinth. This song was co-written by Zendaya and Sam Levinson.

Overall, this season was filled with great music that fit all the seasons very well. We’re excited to see what comes next for music in the next season!
